Subject: 3 Evals

On our way to the first observed visit on Monday.

The evals went very well. Twinkler was very good and enjoyed the visiting. We took him Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. He is preferring some patients to others but that is to be expected. The staff was so excited to see him too. In fact, the staff will probably benefit as much as the patients. They just had to touch him and praise him. Everyone thought he was just beautiful, well behaved, and were very interested in his Goldendoodle parents. We will go there every Monday or Tuesday once we get certified.

Now we wait for our vet appointment a week from next Monday before we can send in our paperwork. Ron if very adamant about taking Twinkler up to Kernville to see our favorite Vet. We can't formally work in the elder care home or adult day care until Therapy Dog, Inc sends back our approval and paperwork. We won't be able to go into the hospital until September. The tester is setting up an orientation in early September, which takes about 3 hours, prior to our being able to visit there. Once completed we can join the group there on Thursdays.

We will take pics as soon as we can. We can work Nation wide with Therapy Dog, Inc.

We are very excited about this and I feel some relief that we are finally there, and will be working in a month or so. He will wear a red bandanna and a heart shaped identification metal. He really was meant to work with people who need him and now he can. : )

Thanks for such all your encouragement and a wonderful dog that makes us happy in every respect!!!!!!!!!

Love and kisses,
Sherry and Twinkler

Subject: Certs

Linda,

I am back from my mother's eye surgery.

Ron just took pictures of Twinkler's certifications. They include his Obedience, Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog Inc. certifications. (Since Ron and I both tested separately for Therapy Dog's Inc., we both got paperwork. : )

We took the boy up to his vet in Kernville last Wednesday for his shots. Vickie Boyer, our Vet, told us at that time she was telling other dog owners about Twinkler, the Goldendoodle. She is recommending the breed and spreading the word about this remarkable dog. Ron took Twinkler outside after our appointment while I was waiting to pay the bill. A woman came in and told the receptionist she was soooooooo excited. She said she finally met Twinkler!!! She went on about how beautiful and sweet he was. I turned around and told her he was my dog. She just fell in love with him at first sight.

We then went to buy some French fries to eat on the way home since our drive is over an hour. The owners of the shop saw Twinkler and come outside to visit with him and ask all kinds of questions. He had made their day too. We got their email address and sent Twinkler's websites to them. I told you this boy had charisma.......and he does!

We will send therapy dog pics as soon as we can. Meanwhile, this boy doesn't even have to be working to make others happy. : )

Love and kisses from California,

Sherry and Twinkler

Subject: Twinkler, the Caring Canine

Linda

Here are Twinkler's first "Caring Canine" (Therapy Dog, Inc.) pictures. Joel and Nellie are especially fond of Twinkler. He has been to see both of them in their facility four times now. Nellie has a picture of Twinkler in her room. She tells everyone that comes to visit her that "Twinkie" is her favorite, beautiful, sweet, 4 legged visitor. Joel looks forward to our visits too. In fact, the staff as well as the residents smile when they see Twinkler coming down the hall.

We have permission from both Joel and Nellie to post their pictures on your websites. I was told today that a reading program has been set up through a couple of schools here in town. We are excited about starting to work with the kids. Right now, unless there are changes, we will be "reading" every Thursday afternoon.

Subject: More therapy stuff

We took this picture this morning. Twinkler should be in the local paper advertising a "Dog Day Afternoon" at the local library next month. They wanted a pic with his "Caring Canines" bandanna to advertise the event.

Blue is doing a Therapy Dog page for Twinkler. This is the info I sent to her to go along with his pictures. I keep thinking I have the cutest dog in the world but you just keep making new ones!! : )

Twinkler Bean: Therapy Dogs Inc. Doodle

As I was nearing retirement, I studied dogs in earnest to find the perfect "Therapy Dog". I researched and researched different breeds for about 8 months. One day, while searching online, I stumbled across a hybrid dog that didn’t shed, was good for those with dander allergies, and had a sweet, intelligent personality. It was a Goldendoodle. I fell in love with the hybrid immediately. It took me several months to convince my husband it was the perfect dog for me. And, I was right! We found Twinkler Bean!

Twinkler is the most intelligent, gentle, friendly, and stable pet we have ever had. On our outings, even the child who is crying because they are unhappy or frightened of dogs in general will come and pet the "teddy bear" dog. The elderly are drawn to him too, not to mention all those ages in between. Even before he was certified, we believed he was doing a sort of "therapy". When we were in public, people told me Twinkler’s eyes called them over to "visit". Their faces would relax and a smile would appear. Twinkler loves every color, every age, and every personality. Just last week a boy with severe Cerebral Palsy came to the door with his mother. They were out looking for pledges for a "Walk-a-Thon". Twinkler came to the door and was delighted to find Caleb there. He didn’t notice the clumsy petting or the difficult speech. He just enjoyed Caleb.

We passed the Therapy Dog Inc. test a couple of months ago. Since then, we have started volunteering in facilities and we feel he makes the world a better place with his soft curly coat, his "smiles", and the wags of the tail.

Subject: Great Experiences......

Twinkler has had an amazing week. Yesterday morning we went to R.E.A.D. with 4 kids at Charter School. (I will try to get permission for pictures after Christmas.) He has been there 2 times before. He pulled us all the way in the door looking for the kids. He was amazing with the kids. He did his "tricks" for the kids and they were totally impressed with his ability to be so well behaved. He will see 4 kids each week. We will also get to sub on occasion when other Caring Canines can't go.

Yesterday afternoon, we went to the Skilled Nursing Facility. Twinkler was so peaceful and calm with the patients. He was very attentive to each person and seemed to know who needed more attention. I think he really has the hang of this now. Everyone was so impressed with him and I was more than proud.

Twinkler BeanThen today, we went to the Adult Day Care Center for about an hour. A news reporter was there to take pictures and get information for a news article. (Don't know which dogs will be in the newspaper yet.) Twinkler was amazing. There were 2 other dogs present. Twinkler was curious to meet the other dogs, then settled down to "visit" with the patients. He was so well behaved and obedient. The group was very impressed. He spent time with each person. He then went to a very sweet woman and stayed very still with her for about 20 minutes, letting her pet him all over. He didn't try to lay down or avoid her petting at all. He moved very close to her and looked at me with a very sweet face. It sure appeared to me that he knew he was sharing a special experience with the woman. Then, the woman looked at me and said..........."He is a very special dog to be so patient with me. He looks me right in the eyes. He was made to visit people." Well, needless to say, this boy IS made to help others and he really is enjoying every experience. : )

And to top it all off.......every one thinks he is just beautiful. What a great Boy we have.

Thanks so much, Sherry.
